SINGAPORE — Celebrations for this year's National Day will start the weekend before Singapore commemorates 57 years of independence, with events like carnivals organised at heartland locations across the island.

"The National Day Parade (NDP) 2022 Heartland Celebrations seek to engage Singaporeans, their families and communities in the National Day festivities," said parade organisers and the People's Association (PA) in a joint statement on Wednesday (July 13).

The carnivals, organised in partnership with the People’s Association, comprise exhibitions, performances and activities for families.

On Aug 6, four of these themed carnivals will be held from 4pm to 9pm at the following locations:

  • Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Ficus Green - “Celebrations in the Park”
  • Punggol open field beside Waterway Point - “ONE Heart @ North-East”
  • Open field next to Sembawang MRT Station - “Family Bliss @ North-West”
  • Open field next to Buona Vista MRT Station - “Celebration with Our Stars”

Another carnival will take place at Geylang Wisma Serai - themed “Celebrating Togetherness @ South-East” — the following day on Aug 7, also from 4pm to 9pm.

All carnival visitors above 12 must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, unless they are certified to be medically ineligible for all vaccines under the national vaccination programme.

The public will be asked to verify their vaccination status. Any visitors who are feeling unwell are advised to stay home and seek medical advice, the organisers and PA said.

Entry tickets, which are required, and coupons for the carnivals will be made available to the public from 10am on Thursday at all community clubs.

The tickets will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis, and the coupons can be used to redeem items such as NDP packs at the carnival sites.

The public can also apply for entry-only e-tickets via the BookingSG link on the NDP website from 10am on July 23. More details can be found on the NDP website. CNA
