SINGAPORE — Homegrown payment services group Nets is extending its Go Cashless campaign — which rewards diners with discounts when they make Nets QR code payments — for another two months, with coffeeshops joining in the fray for the first time.

In a media release on Tuesday (July 3), Nets said the second edition of its campaign — set to run from Wednesday to Aug 29 — will feature more hawker centres and canteens, in addition to the coffeeshops.

Diners who spend at least S$2 per transaction will receive a S$0.50 discount on their Nets QR code transactions every Wednesday during the promotion period.

The campaign will run at 30 hawker centres — including Maxwell Food Centre, Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre, as well as Alexandra Village Food Centre —in addition to two JTC canteens, as well as canteens at the polytechnics and Institutes of Technical Education. A total of 36 coffeeshops will also be taking part.

Nets said the extension and expansion of the campaign comes on the back of "overwhelming response" to its earlier edition.

"We witnessed a 2,000 per cent increase in the number of Nets QR cord transactions at the participating hawker centres over the two-month campaign period," said Nets' head of sales Ang Sok Hong.

"Even after the campaign ended (in May), the number of Nets QR code transactions still saw an average increase of close to 500 per cent compared to before the campaign," he added.

Nets launched its QR code payment mode in September last year at the Tanjong Pagar Market and Food Centre. Now, over 3,000 hawker stalls and canteens accept this payment mode.

It has waived terminal and transaction fees for hawkers for three years, in a bid to encourage more hawkers to install the Nets terminals.
