SINGAPORE — Cyclists and joggers will be able to reach Changi Airport Terminal 2 from East Coast Park and Singapore’s park connector network with the launch of a new 3.5km path on Sunday (Oct 11).

Users of the Changi Airport Connector can either start or end their journey at a new pit stop beside the Hub and Spoke cafe at Terminal 2, where they can rent or return bicycles, freshen up, or grab a meal.

Bicycle parking is free, or visitors can rent a bicycle locker that will allow them to store their rides for up to 10 days at a time at a rate of S$5 per day.

This will be ideal for backpacker travellers who wish to cycle and fly when travel resumes, the Changi Airport Group (CAG) said on Sunday as it launched the new path.

Pay-per-use shower facilities, which come equipped with personal lockers, will also be available at S$3 per entry for those looking to cool off after an exercise as well.

For an additional S$2, users can enter the facility twice so that they can store their belongings in the lockers first, before they begin their workout.

Other useful features for cyclists include a washing bay and a do-it-yourself bicycle repair station, both of which are available 24 hours.

Meanwhile, those intending to head out from the airport towards East Coast Park can consider renting a bike from the GoCycling bicycle rental service provider, which also provides repair services, among others.

The rental rates start at S$6 per hour for a child’s bicycle, and S$8 per hour for an adult.

These bicycles can be returned at any of GoCycling’s seven outlets around Singapore, which include Changi Beach Park, East Coast Park and Punggol Jetty (Coney Island).

Cyclists and joggers setting off from the Hub and Spoke will come across the Changi Jurassic Mile once they pass Terminal 4.

Spanning just under 2km in length, it is Singapore’s latest permanent outdoor display that will feature more than 20 prehistoric creatures from nine different dinosaur species, including the towering tyrannosaurus rex and packs of velociraptors.

Mr Jayson Goh, CAG’s managing director for airport operations management, said the group wanted to connect the airport with East Coast Park and the rest of Singapore’s park connector network for the benefit of its airport community and local residents.

“With the support of NParks (National Parks Board) and the Singapore Tourism Board, we are now able to offer airport staff an alternative route to get to and from the airport, and a new recreational option for local residents.”
