New commander for 4th SCDF Division

SINGAPORE — The Singapore Civil Defence Force’s (SCDF) 4th Division has a new commander.

SINGAPORE — The Singapore Civil Defence Force’s (SCDF) 4th Division has a new commander.

Lieutenant-Colonel (LTC) Michael Chua Szu Chiap took on the appointment from Colonel (COL) Ling Young Ern following a symbolic change of command parade yesterday (Jan 4) at the 4th SCDF Division HQ.

LTC Chua became an SCDF Officer in 2002. After holding various key staff and operational appointments in the SCDF and the Ministry of Home Affairs, he was awarded a postgraduate sponsorship to do his Masters in Fire Investigation at the University of Central Lancashire in 2012. Prior to his current appointment, LTC Chua was an Assistant Director in the SCDF’s Hazardous Materials Department and Deputy Commander of the 4th SCDF Division.

COL Ling, who has been Commander of the 4th SCDF Division since June 2013, takes on a new appointment as Director of the Operations Department.

The change of command parade was attended by around 250 guests and officiated by Commissioner of the SCDF Eric Yap.
