SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 307 new cases of Covid-19, including five that are imported and one that is in the community. The remaining 301 cases are Work Permit holders residing in dormitories.

In a press release on Saturday (Aug 1), MOH said that the five imported cases had been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore.

Two of them are Work Pass holders who are currently employed in Singapore, and had arrived from the Philippines on July 29 and from India on July 20.

Another two are Dependant’s Pass holders who arrived from India on July 19 and July 20. The remaining case is a Long-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from China on July 20.

The single case in the community involves a 26-year-old Singaporean woman who is currently not linked to other cases.

She had developed symptoms on July 27 and tested positive on July 31.

MOH said she was detected under its enhanced community testing to test all individuals aged 13 and above who are diagnosed with acute respiratory infection at first presentation to a doctor.

"This allows us to identify infected individuals early and to quickly contain further spread," it added.

MOH noted that overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of seven cases per day in the week before, to an average of three per day in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of four cases per day in the week before, to an average of one per day in the past week.

UPDATE ON THE REMAINING CASES

In all, the total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 52,512.

Of these, 46,740 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 249 announced on Saturday.

There are currently 117 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit.

Another 5,628 cases are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
