SINGAPORE — Singapore reported nine new cases of Covid-19 on Friday (Dec 18), all of which were imported.

SINGAPORE — Singapore reported nine new cases of Covid-19 on Friday (Dec 18), all of which were imported.

There are no cases in the wider community.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said that eight of the new cases are asymptomatic.

The remaining case, a 36-year-old indonesian man who is a work permit holder, had developed symptoms on Thursday. He has a travel history to Indonesia. 

For the other eight cases, two are Singaporeans and one is a permanent resident who have returned from Austria and India. 

The rest are:

  • Two work permit holders employed in Singapore who arrived from Indonesia 

  • A dependant’s pass holder who arrived from the United Kingdom

  • A short-term visit pass holder who arrived from India to visit her Singaporean family member

  • A special pass holder who arrived from India to board a ship docked here as a crew member

All the nine imported cases had been placed on stay-home notices or isolated upon their arrival in Singapore and were tested for the coronavirus.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained low with no new cases in the past week, MOH said.

UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 58,386.

Of these, 58,265 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 13 on Friday.

There are still 36 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.

Another 56 patients are isolated at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-nine people have died from complications due to the disease.
