SINGAPORE — There were four imported Covid-19 cases in Singapore on Wednesday (July 1), of which three had returned to the country from Pakistan last month, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
In a press release, MOH said that the three patients — two Singaporeans and a permanent resident — had arrived in the country on June 19 and June 20.
They had been placed on a 14-day stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore. They were asymptomatic, and had been tested while serving their notices, MOH said.
The remaining imported case is an Indonesian man who was tested upon his arrival at Tanjong Pagar Terminal, and was isolated while awaiting his test result, MOH said.
The four were among 215 new Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore on Wednesday. Aside from the four, there were 10 cases in the community, while 201 were workers staying in dormitories.
This brings the tally of Covid-19 cases in Singapore to 44,122.
Of the 10 cases in the community, six are Singaporeans.
One of them — a 44-year-old man — had gone to work at First Avenue Interiors after the onset of symptoms on June 27. He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on June 30.
Another four of the community cases are work permit holders.
Overall, the ministry said that the number of new cases in the community has increased from an average of four cases a day in the week before to eight a day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from an average of two a day in the week before to four a day in the past week.
“We will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through our surveillance programme,” MOH said.
Separately, the health ministry said that the clusters at 48 Toh Guan Road East and 7 Senoko South Road have been closed as there have been no new cases linked to the dormitories “for the past two incubation periods”.
UPDATES ON THE REMAINING CASES
In all, MOH said 39,011 people have fully recovered from the Covid-19 infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including the 511 on Wednesday.
There are currently 209 patients who are still in hospital. Of these, most are in stable condition or improving and one patient is in critical condition under intensive care.
MOH added that 4,876 patients are currently isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.
Twenty-six people have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
