SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 469 new cases of Covid-19, including 15 that are imported, two that are in the community. The remaining 452 are migrant workers staying in dormitories.

In a press release on Monday (July 27), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the 15 imported cases include two Singaporeans, seven work pass holders, four work permit holders and two dependant’s pass holders.

A dependant's pass allows the spouses and children of employment or S-pass holders to live with them in Singapore.

Among the imported cases, eight were from India and seven from the Philippines. They had arrived in Singapore between July 12 and 15, MOH said.

They had all been placed on a 14-day stay-home notice and tested positive while serving their notices.

For the two cases in the community, one is a Singaporean and the other a work pass holder.

They are both linked to previous cases or clusters: The Singaporean to the cluster at CDPL Tuas Dormitory and the work pass holder to the Aspri-Westlite Papan dormitory.

MOH also said that it has identified one new cluster of infections: A dormitory at 6 Sungei Kadut Street 2 near Kranji.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from an average of 10 a day in the week before, to an average of five a day in the past week.

The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has also gone down from an average of five a day in the week before, to an average of three a day in the past week.

“We will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through our surveillance programme,” MOH said.

UPDATES ON THE REMAINING CASES

In all, the total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 50,838.

Of these, 45,692 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including the 171 on Monday.

There are still 179 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in critical condition under intensive care.

Another 4,940 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
