SINGAPORE — A new Covid-19 cluster has emerged in Redhill after three of the community cases reported on Tuesday (June 22) were linked to one another. The three were part of 15 new cases in the community.

In its nightly update on the coronavirus situation here, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that it has identified Block 90 Redhill Close as a Covid-19 cluster.

The block is a six-minute walk away from the Bukit Merah View Market and Food Centre, which has 81 cases in its cluster as of Tuesday.

Among the three cases at the new Redhill cluster, one was classified as a case with no known source of infection and detected through surveillance testing of residents in the Redhill Close area.

MOH said that this unlinked case is a 79-year-old Singaporean retiree. He developed a fever and cough on June 21 but did not see a doctor. He was then tested for the coronavirus that same day.

The other two cases linked to this man is a 69-year-old Singaporean woman who is his family member as well as a 50-year-old Singaporean woman who is his close contact.

Besides the man, there were four other community cases with no known links to past infections.

They were:

  • A 26-year-old female permanent resident from China who works as an analyst at Deutsche Bank. She developed a fever and sore throat on June 15 and a runny nose and cough two days later. She sought treatment at a general practitioner’s clinic on June 17 but declined to be tested for Covid-19. She was tested on June 21 after a household contact was infected.
