SINGAPORE — The NTUC Foodfare outlet at 308 Anchorvale Road will be closed for 14 days from Sunday (May 30), following the emergence of a new cluster at the coffee shop.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is also offering free Covid-19 testing for members of the public who had visited the area from May 13 to 30.
MOH on Sunday recorded 19 new cases of Covid-19 in the community, five of whom were linked to the NTUC Foodfare outlet.
Four of them worked as kitchen assistants at two different outlets of Hua Zai HK Style Roasted Delight Rice Noodle stall, while one is a cook at the Rice Garden stall.
The cluster now has seven cases; the first — a 33-year-old kitchen assistant at Hua Zai Eating House — tested positive on Saturday.
MOH said that its investigations have found that there is likely ongoing transmission at the NTUC Foodfare coffee shop in Anchorvale. The outlet will be closed until June 13.
The ministry also advised all individuals who had been there from May 13 to 30 to monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit. They are encouraged to visit a regional screening centre or a Swab and Send Home Public Health Preparedness Clinic for a free Covid-19 test.
Apart from the five workers from the coffee shop, another nine community cases were from existing clusters, including the ones for Jem and Westgate malls and the one tied to McDonald's delivery riders.
Another five locally transmitted infections have no known origins.
Giving its overall outlook on the community cases, MOH said that the number of new infections has fallen from 182 in the week before to 136 in the past week. The number of cases with no known links has also dropped from 39 in the week before to 25 in the past week.
Sunday's Covid-19 count also included six imported cases. Three of them were Singaporeans and two were permanent residents who returned from Belgium, India, Indonesia and the United States.
The remaining imported case is a domestic worker who arrived from the Philippines.
In all, there were 25 new Covid-19 cases registered on Sunday, taking Singapore’s coronavirus total to 62,028.
One new death was recorded: A 95-year-old Singaporean woman who had not been vaccinated against the coronavirus, and had a history of cancer, hypertension and hypothyroidism.
In total, 33 people have died from complications due to the disease.
Eleven more patients have been discharged, bringing the tally of recovered cases to 61,434.
Another 222 cases are still in hospital. Most of them are in stable or improving condition, while three are in critical condition under intensive care.
There are still 339 people being isolated at community facilities. These are those with mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.
