SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed six new cases of Covid-19, including four that are imported and two linked to migrant workers staying in dormitories. There are no infections in the wider community for the second day in a row.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Tuesday (Oct 20) that all of the fresh cases have no symptoms.

The four imported cases comprise one Singaporean, one permanent resident and two work pass holders. They had arrived from India, Indonesia, Germany and the United Arab Emirates, MOH said.

All four had been placed on 14-day stay-home notices and were tested while serving their notices.

Overall, MOH said that the number of new cases in the community has gone up from two cases in the week before to four in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also gone up from none in the week before to two cases in the past week.

Among the two new cases involving migrant workers in dormitories, one had been identified earlier as a contact of previous cases.

The other was detected through the MOH’s fortnightly rostered routine testing of workers living in dormitories.

UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,921.

Of these, 57,819 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities. No one was discharged on Tuesday.

There are still 38 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.

Another 36 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-eight people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
