SINGAPORE — A Vietnamese woman who is a short-term visit pass holder is the sole community case in Singapore on Tuesday (Oct 27), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

The 28-year-old had arrived from Vietnam under an Air Travel Pass as she is a caregiver to her sibling who was already receiving medical treatment here.

The woman underwent a Covid-19 test upon her arrival on Oct 10 and tested negative for the coronavirus, MOH said.

She later developed acute respiratory infection symptoms on Oct 23 and was tested for the virus under the ministry's enhanced community testing procedure. On Oct 25, she tested positive for the virus.

Apart from this community case, the other six new cases are all imported. The imported cases comprise two work pass holders, two work permit holders, one dependant’s pass holder and one short-term visit pass holder.

They had arrived from France, Japan, Indonesia and the United Kingdom.

All six were placed on stay-home notices upon their arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving their notices.

While there were no cases in foreign worker dormitories on Tuesday, MOH said that it has been monitoring the existing clusters for “any further transmission”.

“As there have been no more cases linked to the clusters at CDPL Tuas Dormitory and Jurong Penjuru Dormitory 1 for the past two incubation periods, the clusters have now been closed.” it said.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from four cases in the week before to three in the past week.

The number of cases with no known links in the community has, however, increased from two cases in the week before to three in the past week.

UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,980.

Of these, 57,883 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including four on Tuesday.

There are still 43 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.

Another 26 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-eight people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
