SINGAPORE — From Tuesday (Mar 1), all police officers will carry newly issued warrant cards which will have enhanced security features to prevent imposters from impersonating police officers.
When the new warrant card is tilted at an angle, the holographic word “POLICE” will appear below the officer’s photograph. On the right side of the card, there’s a vertical row of five holographic police crests.
The new warrant cards will replace the existing warrant cards held by all regular, volunteer, full-time National Service Police Officers (PNSFs), Operationally Ready Police National Servicemen (PNSmen) as well as the Auxiliary Police Officers (APOs), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a press release on Monday.
Members of the public are asked to look out for these security features in the warrant card should they be approached by anyone claiming to be a police officer. When in doubt, they should call “999” for assistance, the SPF said.
