SINGAPORE — Three new cases of the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Singapore as of noon on Sunday (Feb 9), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases here to 43.

Of the three new patients, two are Singapore citizens and one is a Bangladesh national. All of them did not go to China recently.

MOH said that four patients were discharged from hospital on Sunday, bringing the total number of people who have fully recovered so far to six.

Of the 37 remaining patients, six are in critical condition in the intensive care unit, while the rest are stable or improving.

A total of 516 suspect cases have tested negative for the virus to date, with the test results for 98 remaining cases still pending.

MOH said that out of the 22 locally transmitted cases, 15 have been linked to three known clusters: The Life Church and Missions Singapore, health products shop Yong Thai Hang and a business meeting at Grand Hyatt hotel.

"Contact tracing is underway for the other seven locally transmitted cases, including those confirmed today, to establish if they are linked to previous cases or persons with travel history to mainland China," it added.

MOH has identified 989 close contacts, 892 of which are still in Singapore. A total of 845 people have been contacted and are under quarantine or being isolated, while efforts are ongoing to contact the remaining 47 people.
