SINGAPORE — To raise public awareness of security issues, the National Security Coordination Secretariat (NSCS) in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has been working with schools, businesses, and people from all walks of life.

And the views canvassed from such engagement with the public will help to shape the next phase of the “Let’s Stand Together” campaign, the NSCS said today (Jan 18).

The NSCS works with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to develop plans help Singapore prepare to tackle new and emerging threats.

Presenting the NSCS’ plans in an addendum to the President’s address, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said cited four areas of focus: Raising public awareness of security issues, identifying and addressing interdependencies between various critical infrastructures across sectors such as energy, water, and health, strengthening social resilience and enhancing cyber security.

Of the campaign, Mr Teo, who is Coordinating Minister for National Security, said the campaign, which started in 2013, has grown in following. “Many support greater civic consciousness and social responsibility to ensure Singapore’s national security,” he added.

Responding to queries, a NSCS spokesperson said it “intends to harness the existing momentum and take LST (Let’s Stand Together campaign) to the next level, to encourage citizens to practise the right social behaviours that will enable us to stand together against security threats”.
