Police investigating alleged hit-and-run accident at Bukit Batok; cyclist taken to hospital

SINGAPORE — The police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run accident that happened on Wednesday (July 6) along Bukit Batok West Avenue 5, where a car was captured on video driving into a cyclist at a traffic light crossing before driving off.
In a statement on Thursday, the police said that they were alerted to the accident at 7.10pm on Wednesday. Investigations are ongoing.
A video of the incident was shared online showing a white car making a left turn and crashing into a cyclist who was crossing the road.
The "green man"’ pedestrian crossing light at the traffic lights can be seen in the video as the cyclist made his way across the junction, before the white car turning left apparently drove straight into him.
The cyclist was thrown off his bike and the car drove off without stopping.
The 18-year-old cyclist was conscious when taken to the hospital, the police said.
