SINGAPORE — Short-duration thundery showers can be expected on most afternoons for the rest of December, though conditions overall will be “less rainy than usual”, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said on Thursday (Dec 16).

On a few of these rainy days, the temperature may drop to 22°C to 23°C.

MSS said that the month of December is usually associated with wet weather and occasional windy conditions.

However, the weather agency also said that the Northeast Monsoon conditions, which have prevailed since the start of the month, are forecast to be generally weak in the next two weeks.

Fewer windy days are expected in the second half of the month than in the first half.

Short-duration afternoon thundery showers may extend into the evening on some days.

However, the passage of Sumatra squalls, or lines of storms, may bring widespread rain with occasional gusty winds in the first few days of the fortnight between the pre-dawn hours and morning.

“Overall, the rainfall for December 2021 is expected to be well below average across the island,” it said.

The daily temperature for the next two weeks is expected to range between 24°C and 33°C on most days, with highs of 34°C on a few days.
