SINGAPORE — The newly revamped Funan mall will reopen on June 28, two months ahead of schedule, said developer CapitaLand in a press release on Monday (June 3).
After its three-year redevelopment, the mall features over 180 new concept and flagship stores, a performing arts theatre, and the highest climbing facility in the civic district.
More than 60 per cent of Funan’s tenants are local brands, half of which are new to the market, added the release.
Among the mall’s new retailers is tech company Dyson, which will open its first standalone store here. Folding bikes company Brompton Junction will also make its South-east Asia debut.
Meanwhile, local theatre group Wild Rice will raise the curtains at its state-of-the-art performance hall and studio.
Moviegoers can catch blockbusters at Golden Village’s seven-screen multiplex, which features two new seating concepts — Deluxe Plus and Gold Class Express — plus virtual reality pods in its foyer.
Shoppers can also look forward to “digital shopping”.
For example, customers at supermarket chain FairPrice Finest will be able to shop and pay through their phones, while diners at Kopitiam’s concept foodcourt "KOPItech" can use Facebook’s messenger app to order their meals.
Funan will also house an urban farm, a farm-to-table concept where farmers and chefs work together to curate, grow and harvest produce to supply to restaurants in the mall.
On top of a climbing facility — the mall will have an indoor cycling path — a first in a commercial building here.
