SINGAPORE — About 800,000 HDB households will receive S$135 million worth of GST Voucher — Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebates in January next year, said the Ministry of Finance today (Dec 30).

In January next year, eligible Singaporean households will each receive a GST Voucher — U-Save of up to S$195 in total, depending on their HDB flat type. This amount includes the final tranche of the GST Voucher — U-Save Special Payment, which is a one-off extra GST Voucher payment announced in Budget 2013. No sign-up is required for the rebates.

The Regular and Special Payment for the GST Voucher — U-Save will provide substantial assistance to households. Those living in one-to-two room HDB flats can offset about six to eight months of utilities bills on average with their GST Voucher — U-Save. Those living in three-to-four room HDB flats can offset up to four months of utilities bills on average.

The GST Voucher — U-Save is the household component of the permanent GST Voucher scheme that was introduced in Budget 2012. It provides a direct offset on utilities expenses for households, and is paid out four times a year.
