SINGAPORE — A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman was found dead yesterday morning at Nee Soon Camp.
A statement from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said the incident occurred at 8.15am yesterday, but offered no further details.
Yahoo! Singapore said the serviceman was a Military Expert 2 (ME2) senior course instructor from the SAF Medical Training Institute. It is believed that the man had hanged himself, said the report.
Last year, a First Warrant Officer was found hanging from a rope in an SAF training area in Lentor by two civilian contractors who were maintaining training equipment. In 2012, an off-duty military policeman was found hanging from a rope at Changi Air Base.
MINDEF and the SAF have extended their deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman and are currently assisting them.
“The police are investigating the incident,” said MINDEF.
