SINGAPORE – A war relic found at a construction site in the Changi Coast vicinity has been safely disposed early this morning (Feb 10) by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

The relic, identified as a 155mm British projectile, was discovered last night, the Singapore Army Facebook page said. SAF’s EOD team worked through the night to clear the relic upon activation.

Sandbags were used to prepare the site for its disposal. Photos on the Singapore Army Facebook page also showed the SAF’s EOD team measuring and assessing the relic.

In the last two months, two suspected war relics were detonated at construction sites in Senoko Drive and Sengkang West. There were at least 10 such incidents that were mentioned last year on the Singapore Army’s Facebook page, including a fused and fired Illumination mortar round found in Tampines in May.
