SINGAPORE — From July 9, travellers here will have a budget option if they want to fly to Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Low-cost carrier Scoot will be adding a new service direct to Kaohsiung — its second Taiwanese destination after Taipei — and the flights will operate non-stop three times a week using Scoot’s new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The flights will fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

“Singaporeans simply love Taiwan, but there’s so much more to Taiwan than just Taipei. Scoot is therefore delighted to launch a direct service between Singapore and Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s second city,” said Scoot Chief Executive Campbell Wilson in a press release today (April 16).

Budget carriers flying from Singapore, such as Tigerair and Jetstar Airways, currently only fly to Taipei in Taiwan.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this report said the flights to Kaohsiung will fly on Fridays. Scoot has clarified that the flights will fly on Saturdays instead of Fridays.
