SINGAPORE — Four days after a technical fault, the Singapore Flyer remains suspended for operations on Monday (Jan 29) as the management works with the authorities to find what went wrong.
The Republic’s iconic tourist attraction suffered a “technical issue” last Thursday morning and closed its doors for a “thorough check” to be conducted.
There were 61 passengers on the 165m-tall observation wheel at the time of the incident.
“As safety is our top priority, we are committed to working together with the relevant authority and specialist professional engineer to investigate the cause of the technical fault,” said Singapore Flyer’s director of marketing and sales Veronique Ye in a media release issued on Monday.
“We ask for patience as we rectify the issues”.
The management of Flyer did not give an estimate of when it will resume operations again. However Ms Ye said flight operations will resume once investigations are completed and “given the go-ahead by the relevant authority”.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to guests and partners of Singapore Flyer,” she added.
When asked by TODAY about the amount of revenue affected during the closure, Ms Ye said that the priority is to address the issues and "will not be disclosing any information on revenues during this time".
Affected customers with prior bookings, can contact the Singapore Flyer through its customer service team at +65 6333 3311 from 9am to 10pm, if they need to arrange for exchange of flight ticket dates.
