KUALA LUMPUR – The Singaporean man injured in the hand grenade blast in Bukit Bintang told Channel NewsAsia that he is not in pain and could now move his limbs freely. Mr Wong Kim Teng, 67, is currently recovering from surgery to remove shrapnel from his body.

Mr Wong said he is in touch with his sister in Singapore, and has asked her not to worry as his injuries are a “small matter”, adding that he also does not want her to visit him in Malaysia.

He said he came to Kuala Lumpur to visit a friend and had been there for about a week before the incident. Mr Wong plans to return to Singapore as soon as he is discharged from hospital.

Mr Wong is one of 12 people injured in the pre-dawn explosion outside the Cherry Blossom nightclub at Sun Complex on Thursday (Oct 9). The blast killed a Malaysian parking attendant. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
