Slashing incident at ITE College West: 16-year-old teen arrested

SINGAPORE – Police have arrested a 16-year-old teenager in relation to a slashing incident at ITE College West earlier today (March 10), while a 19-year-old man has been sent to the National University Hospital (NUH).

SINGAPORE – Police have arrested a 16-year-old teenager in relation to a slashing incident at ITE College West earlier today (March 10), while a 19-year-old man has been sent to the National University Hospital (NUH).

The police said they received a call at 12.35pm requesting assistance at ITE around Choa Chu Kang Grove. Upon police arrival, it was established that a case of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous means occurred at the said location. 

When contacted, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said at around 12.40pm, they received a call from requesting for ambulance assistance at 1 Choa Chu Kang Grove. A teenager was conveyed to NUH for lacerations on his left arm and back.

Dr Yek Tiew Ming, Principal, ITE College West said: "There was a fight at ITE College West this afternoon. The victim was sent to hospital, and we will render whatever assistance is required.

"We take a serious view of the matter and do not condone such an act. The case was reported to the police and is now under police investigation."

A video purportedly showing the slashing incident at ITE College West has since surfaced online. In the 26-second video uploaded to YouTube, two men can be seen physically facing off with each other. A man in a white top and black pants is then seen trying to slash another man wearing dark-coloured clothes, with what looks like a parang as students and a security guard watch on.
