SINGAPORE - A 23 year-old man who fantasised about stabbing girls and touching their breasts was today (Aug 20) found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder of a mother-of-two during Mid Autumn Festival three years ago. Soh Wee Kian, who was a National Serviceman at the time, stabbed Mdm Hoe Hong Lin, 32, near Mandai Tekong Park on Sept 22, 2010. That afternoon, he had left his home with a plastic glove and knife. He loitered around in Woodlands and followed several women he found attractive. Soh began walking around Mandai Tekong Park at about 8pm and spotted Mdm Hoe walking towards the park over an hour later, having dropped off her two nephews at a traffic junction nearby. Soh came up from behind, covered Mdm Hoe's mouth and stabbed her in the right lower back. He stabbed her several more times and as she lay dying on the ground, he thought of touching her breasts but Mdm Hoe grabbed his hands. He shook his hands free and ran away. At the time of the attack, Soh was absent without official leave from National Service. He surrendered on Sept 30, 2010, and was at the detention barracks when he was arrested two weeks later for the attack on Mdm Hoe. Soh was also found guilty of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to Ms How Poh Ling on May 26, 2010. Soh faces life imprisonment and caning, and will be sentenced on Thursday.
