Muhammad Hasnul Redha Abdullah, 19, Muhammad Fahmi Razali, 20, and Muhammad Nazmir Osman, 21, were sentenced to imprisonment of between two years six months and three years six months. Muhammad Hasnul got three years, Muhammad Fahmi got three years six months and Muhammad Nazmir got two years six months.
They were also ordered to receive between four and six strokes of the cane. Muhammad Nazmir got four strokes while the other two got six.
The three admitted that they were members of an unlawful assembly and had rioted with a “parang” (machete) on June 15, shortly after 9pm outside Cathay Orchard Cineleisure. They had slashed a full-time national serviceman during the attack.
Two others — Muhammad Farin Zulkeple and Muhammad Ridzuan Said — have pleaded guilty and reports on their suitability for reformative training have been called for.
