SINGAPORE — A two-year-old girl was killed on Monday (March 13) after an accident involving a van driven by a 33-year-old man in a public housing estate's car park.

TODAY understands that the van driver is the toddler's father. He has been arrested by the police for alleged careless driving causing death.

The police said on Tuesday that they were alerted at about 2.40pm on Monday to the incident involving a van and three pedestrians at Block 326 Woodlands Street 32.

"A four-year-old boy and 34-year-old woman, who were pedestrians, were conveyed conscious to the hospital," they said.

The toddler was taken unconscious to the hospital, where she later died.

Investigations are ongoing.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said that it was alerted to a road traffic accident at the same location on Monday and three persons were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

A video posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook group on Tuesday appears to show the aftermath of the accident at the car park, with several passers-by helping to shelter the injured with umbrellas while paramedics attended to them.

A grey van was beside the injured pedestrian or pedestrians, and there were also at least two ambulances at the scene.

In the second half of the video, the police appeared to be investigating the scene of the accident and inspecting the van involved.

A caption in the video stated that the toddler was in a stroller when it was struck by the van.
