Travellers can soon submit unsupervised ART result within 24 hours of entering S'pore: MOH

SINGAPORE — From 11:59pm on Monday (March 14), travellers entering Singapore using the vaccinated travel lanes can submit an unsupervised self-swab antigen rapid test (ART) result within 24 hours of entry, instead of undergoing a supervised self-swab rapid test at a test centre.

Travellers are required to report their unsupervised self-swab test result via the Sync website before proceeding with their activities in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement on Friday.

This is applicable to travellers coming in via the travel lanes or from Category 1 areas, which are China, Taiwan and Macau.

MOH said that the easing of the Covid-19 testing regime for incoming travellers is view of the low imported infection numbers — around 1 per cent of total daily infections — as many countries have already passed the peak of their Omicron infection waves.

The latest border requirements can be found on the SafeTravel website and the Government strongly advises travellers to check the latest border measures for the associated country or region before entering Singapore.

“These are important steps to take to prepare ourselves for a new vaccinated travel concept in the coming weeks, where fully vaccinated travellers generally need not apply for approval to enter Singapore, and will undergo simplified test requirements," MOH said.

Asked about Singapore's land border with Malaysia in a press conference by the national Covid-19 task force, Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong said that the Government is looking at allowing cars, motorcycles and more buses such as private coaches that may be engaged by companies for their workers to go to and fro between the two countries.

Mr Gan, who co-chairs the task force, said that the project is "a major undertaking" and more details will be shared when ready.

"Our land authorities and our immigration department are in close discussions with our counterparts," he said, adding that both sides are working out the operational details to ensure that any changes to allow more traffic across the land crossing can be done so smoothly and safely.

Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, who is also a co-chair of the task force, said: "Eventually we would like to introduce the concept of a vaccinated traveller, rather than having different vaccinated travel lanes with different countries."

For details on reporting unsupervised self-swab test result and other requirements, travellers may go online to Sync and SafeTravel.
