SINGAPORE — As many parents with young children would already know, Disney's hit Broadway musical Frozen comes here early next year. But did you know that auditions for children's roles in the Singapore leg of the musical are also now open?

Base Entertainment has announced an open call for the roles of two characters, young Elsa and young Anna, in the Singapore leg, to be played by children aged eight to 11 years.

The Oscar-winning 2013 film's soundtrack spawned hits such as Let It Go and Do You Want to Build a Snowman.

For young kids (and parents) who could sing these songs in their sleep, this might just be your big break.

The musical is seeking children aged eight or nine and who are 125cm to 127cm tall for the role of young Anna, and children aged nine to 11 and 140cm to 142cm tall for the role of young Elsa.

Though children of all cultural backgrounds are welcome to register for the auditions, Base Entertainment states that there is "no flexibility on height requirements" and children will be measured on the spot. Birth certificates will also be required to verify their age.

Online submissions will close on Sunday (Oct 2), and auditions will take place at the Sands Theatre in Marina Bay Sands integrated resort, on Oct 8 and 9.

Disney's hit Broadway musical will make Singapore its only stop in Southeast Asia and is slated to run from Feb 5 to March 5 next year at the Sands Theatre. Ticket sales open on Friday (Sept 30) at 12pm.

Frozen the musical had a run on Broadway before Covid-19 shut down musical theatre around the world in March 2020. Its further roll-out was pushed back by the worst of the pandemic but is now drawing crowds at productions in London's West End, Germany and Australia, among other places.
