The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told TODAY that it was alerted to a vehicle fire at about 12.25am on the PIE, in the direction of Changi Airport, before the Bedok Reservoir Road exit.

A TODAY journalist who passed by the scene saw the truck in flames and thick smoke rising from it.

The fire was extinguished with two water jets, SCDF said.

The driver was taken to Changi General Hospital in Simei.

His condition is unclear. The hospital said that it could not comment on the driver's condition owing to patient confidentiality.
