SINGAPORE — Less than a week after Singapore went into its second phase of reopening its economy, eight more places, most of them shopping centres such as VivoCity and 313@somerset, were visited by people who had Covid-19 and were infectious at the time.

In its evening update on the coronavirus situation in Singapore on Thursday (June 25), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that these individuals had visited:

  • Queensway Shopping Centre on June 21 between 4.45pm and 6.15pm

  • Seah Im Food Centre on June 21 between 7pm and 8pm

  • VivoCity mall on June 21 between 8.15pm and 9.15pm

  • Lucky Plaza on June 22 between 2.30pm and 3pm

  • 313@somerset mall on June 22 between 3.25pm and 5.30pm

  • Peninsula Shopping Centre on June 22 between 5.40pm and 6.15pm

  • Kallang Wave Mall on June 22 between 6.35pm and 7.35pm

  • Bugis Junction on June 23 between 1.10pm and 2.30pm

The infectious persons had also visited a textile shop on Dunlop Street in Little India and Heartland Mall in Hougang before June 19, which was when Phase Two began.

On June 19 itself, infectious cases had visited Seoul Garden restaurant in Northpoint City mall in Yishun as well as a Sheng Siong supermarket in Serangoon.

MOH said that it would have already notified individuals who had been identified as close contacts of the confirmed cases.

"As a precautionary measure, persons who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.

"They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history."

Members of the public do not need to avoid places where confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been, MOH said.

The National Environment Agency will engage the management of the affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection, it added.

On Thursday, the ministry announced 113 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore. Of these, five were identified as community cases while the remaining 108 were linked to foreign workers living in dormitories.
