SINGAPORE – A woman was found dead in the carpark of Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central on Thursday (July 19) evening after she was allegedly stabbed by her ex-husband.

TODAY understands that the woman is Low Hwee Geok, and she is a staff member in the ITE’s examinations division. The police said the 66-year-old man was also found with serious injuries on his body, and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

It was understood that he stabbed himself.

Mdm Low, 56, was pronounced dead by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) upon their arrival.

Police have classified the case as murder and investigations are ongoing.

The SCDF said they had received a call for medical assistance at the Ang Mo Kio campus at around 7.40pm.

In a statement posted on Facebook past midnight, an ITE spokesman said: “We are saddened by a tragic incident that took place at a car park at ITE College Central on the evening of 19 Jul 2018. As the police is investigating, we are unable to comment further."

The spokesman added: "This is an isolated incident, and we would like to assure parents, students and the public that our campus is safe for students, staff and members of the public.”

The crime scene was out of bounds to the media and the public when TODAY arrived at the campus on Thursday night.

Engineering student Danysh Sufyan, 18, said he saw that police had cordoned off an area in the carpark when he learned that there was an incident.

"At first I thought someone fainted, but when I heard what happened, I thought it was very tragic," said the year 2 student who was still in school at the time due to his co-curricular activities.

Another Year 2 student who did not want to be named, said she saw the police at the carpark from the second floor of the school and thought there was a small fight among students.

"It's quite surprising that something like that would happen in school," added the student, who also stayed back in school for co-curricular activities.
