SINGAPORE — The Workers’ Party (WP) will be unveiling its candidates for the upcoming General Election (GE) over the next few days from Thursday (June 25).

In an invitation to the media on Wednesday, the party said that it will announce the names of its candidates over the next four days via teleconferencing platform Zoom.

The invitation comes a day after the leading opposition party, helmed by Mr Pritam Singh, released a 15-second video teaser on its Facebook page.

The video featured a mix of 12 party leaders, new and familiar faces, including that of Ms Nicole Seah, 33, who had contested for Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency (GRC) under the National Solidarity Party in the 2011 polls.

Absent from WP's video were other Members of Parliament (MP) from WP-held Aljunied GRC such as Mr Chen Show Mao, Mr Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap and former party chief Low Thia Khiang.

The party has yet to announce where it will contest in the coming election.

In the last election, the party contested in 10 constituencies and fielded 28 candidates.

The constituencies were: Aljunied GRC, Hougang Single Member Constituency (SMC), Fengshan SMC, MacPherson SMC, Punggol East SMC, Sengkang West SMC, East Coast GRC, Jalan Besar GRC, Marine Parade GRC and Nee Soon GRC.

It won Aljunied GRC in 2015 with 50.96 per cent of the vote, and retained Hougang SMC with 57.66 per cent.
