High demand for premium Sports Hub experience

SINGAPORE — Despite their hefty price tag, the Sports Hub’s 62 executive suites at the National Stadium have been snapped up since they went on sale in June last year.
Multinational corporations and local companies have signed on for the VIP experience — priced between S$72,000 and S$272,000 a year — at the National Stadium Club.
In a few weeks’ time, World Sport Group (WSG), the Sports Hub’s exclusive partner, will be rolling out some 1,600 premium seats to cater to the demand, with an additional 456 platinum seats to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year.
Priced below S$2,000 per seat per annum for a minimum of three years, the premium seats will allow customers VIP access to the member’s club lounge and restaurant, and first-option purchase for event tickets.
While the platinum seats will offer the same membership privileges, the package will include tickets to a pre-determined number of events a year.
With events such as the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Championships (2014 to 2018), top-level European football matches, athletics, world-class cricket and rugby action expected at the S$1.33 billion Sports Hub after its opening in April 2014, the consortium has seen a healthy demand for corporate and premium seats in the 55,000-seater National Stadium.
Adrian Staiti, WSG’s senior VicePresident (Global Partnerships and Stadiums & Arenas), said yesterday that the number of premium seats could be expanded in the future to beyond its current 2,100.
Speaking to TODAY after a media briefing hosted by The Singapore Press Club, Staiti said: “Yes, we would (consider adding in more seats) and we have the footprint to be able to do that … it’s at least a couple thousand more seats that we can add if the demand is there. I don’t think we’ll do it in year 1, we can look at this in year 2 or 3 and beyond.
“The combination of being able to conduct business in a private setting as well as enjoy an event is quite unique and it absolutely does fill a niche.”
