SINGAPORE — Facebook issued a special set of emoticon stickers today (Aug 7) dedicated to Singapore’s 50th birthday on Sunday.
The 16 stickers feature a mascot called Maju the Lion uttering various familiar Singlish expressions.
Examples include “Steady la!” (meaning “well done” or “awesome”), “Simi taiji?” (meaning “what’s the matter?”) and “Wah lao” (to express disgust or disapproval).
The stickers are available for download in the Sticker Store and can be used in Facebook messages, in comments on posts, or added to photos.
In a press release today, the social media platform said the sticker set “captures local expressions and are a fun way for people ... to show their excitement and moments during the celebrations”.
