SINGAPORE — Telcos SingTel, M1 and StarHub have announced that they will offer the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus from Sept 19, the same day the phones are launched in the United States.
Apple early this morning (Sept 10) unveiled the two new larger phones. The iPhone 6 will have a 4.7-inch screen, while the iPhone 6 Plus will be 5.5 inches. The screen resolution on the Plus version will be sharper compared to previous iPhones, at 401 pixels per inch rather than 326. The phones are touted to be faster and have a better battery life, compared to previous versions.
iPhone 6 also supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE), which enables clearer voice calls, and simultaneous voice and data connections. StarHub said its customers using iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus would be able to use this service.
Without specifying a date, a SingTel spokesperson said its VoLTE service "will be available to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users soon". SingTel launched its VoLTE service in May. M1 said it is currently testing VoLTE technology and it is expected to be available by November.
