SINGAPORE — Good news: You can now use Gmail without owning a Gmail account. Starting Thursday (Feb 18), Google will allow users to log in with their Yahoo Mail or Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts.

Called “Gmailify”, the feature gives users access to Gmail’s official services, including spam protection, inbox organisation and Google Now cards (Android users only).

To enable the feature, simply open the Gmail app and sign in to your email account, said Google in a post on its official Gmail blog. To turn it off, unlink your account to use the app as a stand-alone email client.

In the same post, the tech giant also mentioned its plans to support other email providers in the future.
