I am a regular bus commuter and frequently alight at the bus stop at Block 32 New Upper Changi Road.

I have witnessed riders breeze through the bus stop despite the code of conduct saying that they should slow down and be prepared to stop when approaching crowded areas such as bus stops.

Cyclists, the code continues, should ride through crowded areas at walking speed or dismount and push their bicycles.

It is very dangerous when a bicycle suddenly crosses in front of commuters who are alighting from buses. It is really a shocker.

I hope that the authorities will look into this matter before people are seriously or mortally injured.

Just as safety bollards were installed in front of bus stops to cushion the impact of potential vehicle collisions on waiting commuters, so too should these structures be put up at the sides of every bus stop to make sure cyclists dismount and push their bicycles.

Please do not wait until someone is seriously hurt before something is done.
