I have lived in several countries in different continents and can say that Khoo Teck Puat Dental Clinic is equal to if not better than many clinics in other First World countries.

The infrastructure is well planned and up to standard. The cleanliness is impeccable; I have yet to find rubbish lying on the floor, a dirty toilet or a messy waiting area.

On the topic of hygiene protocols, when I was living in the United States, there was a phlebotomist drawing my blood whose nails were so dirty that I started questioning the hospital’s professional standards.

This leads me to my next point. The hospital’s dental staff must be commended for their professionalism and eloquent communication. I have communicated with them on several occasions via telephone and at the clinic; every time, the service was outstanding.

A case in point was when I called recently to ask if anyone had cancelled an appointment and I could be seen instead. A lady told me there was none but promised to call back should there be an opening.

To my surprise, she followed up on her promise. I have encountered such service in different circumstances, and the staff’s commitment always amazes me. I have sat in the waiting area and observed them helping everyone equally and respectfully.

Lastly, I wish to also commend the hospital’s dentists and dental specialists for their superb work. Two of them stand out in particular.

I first saw Dr Tan Kian Meng about two years ago; he impressed me with his knowledge of his field, his professional attitude and his patience. He took his time to perfect his work on me, which shows whenever I smile.

Dr Maria Cristina F. Morales is as impressive and compassionate as Dr Tan. I have had indelible memories of pain from my visits to dental clinics, and Dr Morales was the first dentist to treat me without causing any pain.

This is extraordinary, given how I am highly stressed and in imaginary pain just by walking into a dental clinic. Furthermore, she was attentive to what I had to say, and her explanations were easy to understand.

I am fortunate to have been a recipient of these two professionals’ services.
