We would like to thank Mr Tan Kwong Moh for his letter, “Closure of POSB branch a pain for older bank customers” (Jan 21) and appreciate the opportunity for us to speak to him to understand some of his concerns.

We would like to reassure Mr Tan that the banking centre at Bukit Batok West is not closed. We continue to offer banking services to residents 24 hours daily, providing them with more convenience. Besides cash transactions, residents are also able to conduct other non-cash banking services via our Video Teller Machines (VTMs).

In addition to basic services such as balance enquiries, change of personal particulars and statement requests, our VTMs are also able to instantly replace bank cards, bank tokens and take in instructions for passbook replacements for our customers.

VTMs can also offer face-to-face assistance from our customer service officers via live video streaming.

Our POSB Active Neighbours, who are seniors themselves, continue to be stationed there every week from Monday to Saturday to assist elders with their banking needs.

At the same time, we also want to ensure that our customers who are seniors take full advantage of POSB’s suite of digital banking services so as to enjoy greater convenience. We have been working closely with various community partners to reach out to these customers to familiarise themselves with various banking services and are very encouraged by the response.

We are committed to continue serving and actively engage generations of Singaporeans from all walks of life.
