Anwar meets Mahathir at PM’s residence, as talk of new M’sian govt continues
SERI KEMBANGAN — PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is now in a discussion with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad at the latter’s home on Monday (Feb 24), according to Malaysian media.

SERI KEMBANGAN — PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is now in a discussion with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad at the latter’s home on Monday (Feb 24), according to Malaysian media.
Sources said Mr Anwar, along with PKR Advisory Council chairman Wan Azizah, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah party president Mohamad Sabu, is in the midst of a discussion with Dr Mahathir, reported the Malay Mail.
Mr Anwar, along with Dr Wan Azizah, Mr Lim and Mr Mohamad were seen entering Dr Mahathir’s residence at 10:45am.
Originally they were scheduled to meet Dr Mahathir at his office in Putra Perdana on Monday morning.
Several political meetings were held on Sunday, fuelling talks of a possible formation of a new political alignment, reported the New Straits Times.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) gathered at their headquarters in Petaling Jaya; while PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali’s camp had their meeting at the Sheraton Hotel; and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) at the Ritz Carlton.
Umno Supreme Council members also held a special meeting at their headquarters at Menara Dato Onn later in the evening.
Following Sunday’s developments, PKR is set to hold a special central leadership council meeting at noon on Monday at its headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
DAP has also called for an emergency meeting on Monday.
At 2pm on Monday, Mr Anwar and Dr Wan Azizah will have an audience with Malaysian king Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara.
Meanwhile, Mr Anwar has confirmed speculation that there have been “attempts at betrayal” towards the Pakatan Harapan government.
The defection, he claims, involves Bersatu and several PKR members.
Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa told the press after “Majlis Makan Malam Muafakat MP” last night that the formation of a new government coalition is “very likely”.
Mr Annuar said the announcement of the new coalition will be made by Dr Mahathir. AGENCIES
