Anwar summoned to M’sia police HQ over claim that he has support of 121 MPs to be PM
KUALA LUMPUR — Bukit Aman (Federal Police headquarters) has summoned the People's Justice Party (PKR) president Mr Anwar Ibrahim for questioning over his claim that 121 Members of Parliament are supporting his bid to become the next Malaysian Prime Minister.
Six police reports have been lodged against Mr Anwar Ibrahim, including by Jerantut parliamentarian Ahmad Nazlan Idris.
KUALA LUMPUR — Bukit Aman (Malaysian Federal Police headquarters) has summoned the People's Justice Party (PKR) president Mr Anwar Ibrahim for questioning over his claim that 121 Members of Parliament are supporting his bid to become the next Malaysian Prime Minister.
Six police reports have been lodged against the Port Dickson MP, including one by Jerantut parliamentarian Ahmad Nazlan Idris, on Oct 8.
In a statement, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed said an investigation has been initiated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, following reports on the 121 MPs published by several online portals.
"(Mr Anwar) has been called to have his statement recorded at 11am on Oct 12, However, his private secretary informed us that he can only come at 9am on Oct 13.
"The Royal Malaysia Police has postponed the appointment to another date," he said.
Recently, Mr Anwar announced that he has obtained "strong, formidable and convincing" support from Malaysian MPs to form the federal government.
He claimed to have been granted an audience with Malaysia's King Al-Sultan Abdullah, to discuss the matter tomorrow.
In a statement, Mr Anwar said he will be presenting a document proving the "strong and convincing majority".
However, a number of MPs, including those from Umno and Pas have denied supporting him. NEW STRAITS TIMES
