KUALA LUMPUR — Police yesterday (Sept 19) said that the results of a DNA and chemistry test conducted on a body found in a cemented oil drum two days ago matches that of missing deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Zainuddin Ahmad, while confirming the news, said the cause of death, however, is still unknown. “It’s still in the hands of the pathologist and we are still waiting for the result,” he said in a statement to the media yesterday.

He added that a search for an object at Sungai Kuala Selangor, believed to be vital evidence in the case, is still ongoing. Mr Morais went missing after leaving his residence at Menara Duta for work on Sept 4 in a grey Proton Perdana bearing the registration plate WA6264Q.

A few days later, police confirmed that Morais was abducted. There was no news of his whereabouts until police picked up seven people, including a 52-year-old army doctor three days ago.

Four out of the seven were remanded by police and one of them led the authorities to the location of the body in Subang Jaya.

Police on Friday picked up two more suspects in relation to the murder of the DPP, according to The Star.

The men, aged 46 and 47, were arrested at a car wash near a food court in Jinjang. This brings the number of people arrested to nine.

The duo was arrested at about 3pm on Thursday.

Both suspects are being remanded until September 24, while two suspects have since been released. THE MALAYSIAN INSIDER
