KUALA LUMPUR — An escalator in a Kuala Lumpur shopping mall collapsed on Tuesday (Oct 25) afternoon, but no one was injured.

Witnesses told Malaysian state news agency Bernama that they heard what sounded like explosions coming from the escalator, which was located in Pandan Kaptial Mall.

A Facebook user by the name of Epicalike Rocker had posted photos of the incident, which showed escalator steps being dislodged, and some falling to the lower level.

It is understood that the incident was caused by a technical malfunction, which was rectified in under an hour by technicians, a source had told Bernama, adding that this was the second such incident that had occurred at the mall since July.
