HULU TERENGGANU — A bedridden mother could only watch while her 19-year-old daughter was stabbed to death during a robbery at their house in Kampung Lubok Batu, Telemong, on Sunday (Nov 1).

In the 9am incident, the victim, Siti Nur Surya Ismail, suffered multiple stab wounds and a severed left wrist.

The victim's mother is immobile due to brain cancer.

Siti Nur Surya's body was found sprawled in the living room by her sister, Diana Syuhada Ismail, 15, when she returned from school.

Their brother, Mr Mohd Zaid Azroi Ismail, 28, said he was contacted by Diana while at work in Kampung Bukit Payong.

"It was a violent murder. There were several stab wounds on the body and the left wrist was severed.

"My mother was at home during the incident. She could only watch the stabbing as she is bedridden due to cancer," he said when met at the scene.

Terengganu police criminal investigation department chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Marzukhi Mohd Mokhtar, said initial investigations revealed the robbery and murder were committed by a single person.

"The suspect had taken away some cash," he said. NEW STRAITS TIMES
