PASIR PUTIH (Kelantan) — Several traders in Kelantan, mostly food stall operators, were found to be using “fake” hand sanitisers at their premises recently.

This was detected by the state police in its series of spot checks on Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) throughout the state.

Kelantan police chief deputy commissioner Shafien Mamat said the majority of the traders were operating in the town area.

"During recent inspections by our police personnel, they discovered several traders were using fake hand sanitisers at their entrances.

"(Sometimes) they just fill the sanitiser bottles with plain water," he said.

Speaking to reporters after at a roadblock in Tok Bali on Wednesday (Nov 11), he said all the traders have been compounded for flouting the SOPs.

Meanwhile, Mr Shafien said the roadblock in Tok Bali was among four roadblocks set up by the state police following the implementation of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

"The roadblock here was a joint set up with the Terengganu police under the supervision of the Besut district police," he said.

Also present was Besut district police chief superintendent Abdul Rozak Muhammad.

Mr Shafien said 96 people travelling in 32 vehicles were ordered to turn back after they failed to produce approval letters for inter-state travel.

He said the figure was recorded since Monday, the first day of the CMCO.

"Most of the motorists travelled with their family members from states like Terengganu and even from the red zone areas.

"Those from the red zone areas are required to undergo screenings carried out by the health officers." he added. NEW STRAITS TIMES
