KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia Airlines announced a long-term partnership with professional football clubManchester United, solidifying its position as the club's official commercial airline.

The announcement was posted on Manchester United's official website on Friday (March 22).

In it, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) group managing director Izham Ismail said that partnering with a globally renowned club such as Manchester United gives Malaysia Airlines exposure to a vast international audience.

"It significantly boosted brand recognition, especially in Europe and Southeast Asia where United has a large fanbase.

"We are delighted to announce this exciting partnership with Manchester United, a club synonymous with excellence and sporting passion around the world," he added.

Mr Izham said the partnership between these two international symbols will generate memorable experiences for both fans and customers.

"We look forward to the exciting opportunities this collaboration brings and the joy it will bring to football enthusiasts worldwide," he added.

Mr Izham unveiled the partnership at an industry trade fair in Kuala Lumpur, where former Manchester United defenders Patrice Evra and Wes Brown were invited to attend and share their experiences of global travel as both players and club ambassadors.

Manchester United chief executive officer of alliances and partnerships Victoria Timpson said that the club has a deep-rooted and esteemed relationship with Malaysia, characterised by a history of enthusiastic support from various regions within the country.

"We have three official Malaysian supporter's clubs, with the Kuala Lumpur branch boasting one of the club's largest supporter communities, reflecting the country's love of all things United.

"We are very pleased to welcome Malaysia Airlines to our family of partners and look forward to sharing with our global fans its trusted, welcoming and hospitable service," Ms Timpson added.
