Malaysian anti-graft agency arrests former finance minister Guan Eng over Penang tunnel project

KUALA LUMPUR — Former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng was arrested on Thursday (Aug 6) night and would be charged on Friday in Kuala Lumpur with corruption in connection with the Penang undersea tunnel project, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said.

The Bagan Member of Parliament, who was also the finance minister, faced similar charges in Penang on Monday in relation to the RM6.3 billion (S$2.06 billion) project, MACC said in a statement.
