Malaysia's longest name revealed

PUTRAJAYA — Malaysia's longest name belongs to Princess Aura Nurr Ermily Amara Auliya Bidadari Nawal El Zendra Mohd Sufian.

PUTRAJAYA — Malaysia's longest name belongs to Princess Aura Nurr Ermily Amara Auliya Bidadari Nawal El Zendra Mohd Sufian.

The 12-word, 63 character name was revealed by National Registration Department (NRD) director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah during the National Registration and NRD Innovation Day celebration on Thursday (Oct 4).

The girl was born last year.

Prior to Princess Aura, the longest name ever registered with the NRD was Nur Fathaniah Tariyah Karimah Farwizah Zahabiyah Syahirah Binti Airol Anizam, in 2004.

Meanwhile, Mr Razin also revealed other interesting statistics on Malaysian names.

For instance, there is only one person in the entire county named Mohd Azis Jamman, who just happens to be the Deputy Home Minister.

Meanwhile, the most popular name for boys last year is Ismail, with 72,157 registrations, followed by Abdullah, with 47,989 registrations.

“For girls, the most popular name is Fatimah, with 74,605 registrations, followed by Zainab (41,450) and Azizah (34,114),” he added. AGENCIES
